Caribbean Themed 21st Birthday

Alastair Currie Events were thrilled to provide a spectacular Caribbean themed 21st birthday party, with help from CMC Marquees, we transformed the rear lawn of the Downs School into the perfect party paradise.

Arriving to the sound of a steel drumming band, guests – dressed in their dreadlocks – were greeted with flutes of champagne and circulating canapes included tania or yam fritters, seared scallops with pineapple and chilli and molasses glazed belly pork.

We invited guests inside for a rum punch reception and inspired by those Barbados beaches, we transformed the dining space into a first class holiday. Lined with fire flambeaux, multi coloured lighting and tropical garlands, a sensational LED circular bar took centre stage with a towering palm tree centrepiece.

On each table, brightly coloured and varying linen proved eye catching and perfectly themed. Centrepieces alternating between mini palm trees wrapped in fairy lights and crisp vases filled with giant and vibrant green tropical leaves provided height and further colour.

As guests took to their seats they were treated to sharing starters of Rasta ribs, reaggae beef patties, ackee & salt fish fritters, spiced BBQ shrimp, pickled papaya and plantain chips. Followed by jerk chicken and traditional rice & peas, if our guest were in any doubt about this Caribbean themed 21st birthday the flavour filled desert of coconut cake, fruit kebabs, chocolate and rum & raisin ice cream left them in no confusion and feeling full.

After dinner, Alastair presented the birthday girl with a sparkler foundation cake before short speeches ensued – toasted with a pina colada shot before the nightclub area was revealed.

With pulled pork baps available for midnight munchies, guests were able to enjoy the themed photobooth and dance until the early hours before heading to the sleep over tent. Alasatair Currie Events returned the next morning to provide a much needed breakfast and wake up call.
