Weekend Wedding at The Downs School

Guests started to arrive on the Friday evening where they were escorted to their accommodation for the weekend, a cosy bell tent, put up by the amazing Devon Belles and welcomed with a delicious BBQ and line dancing to close out the evening with an early bedtime for a fresh start for the wedding!

On the big day, once all the guests had made their way to The Downs School, the true celebrations began! With a percussion band collecting the guests and leading the way to the beautiful sail tent structure on the school’s lawn to host the wedding ceremony, having obtained a wedding license for the couple at this unique venue. The breathtaking backdrop was complemented by a stunning floral arch created by Flowers by Thea, which added a romantic touch throughout the day. A particularly personal highlight was the signing of the register in the school’s enchanting treehouse—one of the only places of its kind where this can be done, adding an unforgettable touch to their ceremony.

Guests enjoyed a lively drinks reception on the lawn with music and outdoor games. The second larger marquee for dining, featured long tables adorned with tall floral centrepieces and scattered smaller arrangements below, creating a vibrant yet elegant atmosphere. A bespoken menu was created and designed by the amazing El Cuisine who was there to support us throughout the entirety of the weekend. Lighting by SLX enhanced the marquee and the surrounding school grounds, lending a magical glow as the day transitioned into evening.

Entertainment was a central theme throughout the day, with live music, a saxophone and guitar duo during the reception, and a lively band setting the tone for the evening. Guests hit the dancefloor for a high-energy celebration under expertly curated lighting, with a DJ and saxophonist keeping the party alive late into the night. The evening culminated in a wholesome moment as all guests gathered outside to send off the newlyweds with a sparkler send-off.

After a full evening of celebration, guests were able to relax and wake up to a delicious brunch the next morning, bringing the perfect end to a remarkable weekend after a cosy night sleep in the bell tents.
