Alastair Currie Events recently took over the Downs School and provided complete event design and management for this glistening 21st birthday party- elegant and brilliantly fun and colourful!
Arriving at the school guests were met by a pink colour washed frontage, an insight into the colour themes to come. As they ventured into the Great Hall we were on hand to provide a sparkling champagne reception allowing guests to mingle and excitement to build.
In the dining hall, we made the most of the original beams, we wrapped festoon lighting to provide colour, depth and height to the room. Entwined with hanging lanterns and bursting with vibrant colours which reflected across the room, surrounded by flickering candles and centrepieces composed of birds cages, candles and foliage – this event decor proved to be modern, elegant and perfect for a 21st birthday party.
Our caterers put together a fantastic menu full of the birthday girl’s favourite foods. Inspired by sharing platters, guests were treated to an incredible array of food from which they could help themselves. Glazed chorizo, Spanish croquette and fresh aioli made up some of the six piece starter, followed by Spanish beef meatballs, margherita or cured ham pizza, hot pasta with roasted vegetables and mixed green salads main course. As The Waiting Game’s staff prepared to drop dessert, a short pause was the perfect time for speeches from friends and family; followed by mini salted caramel cheesecake, honeycomb chocolate pots, fresh fruit salad and a side of meringues.
Working with Blast Event Hire, we worked behind the scenes to transform the Great Hall into a nightclub while the guests were dining. With a sparkling LED white star lit dancefloor, incredible LED furniture glowing with colours, a sparkling mirror DJ booth and personalised glitter bar – perfect for serving the birthday girls favourite drinks throughout the night.
As evening fell, guests could help themselves to the towering cupcakes and sweets tables – perfect for that midnight munchies energy boost.
