Take a look into the enchanting world of Thatchers Wassail, where tradition meets a celebrated unlike any other.
Every year, we gather to honour the age-old tradition of Wassail, breathing life into centuries-old rituals to bless the apple trees and chase away evil spirits. As Thatchers continues to thrive, so does the Wassail, evolving with each passing year finding new ways to surprise and delight guests.
This year, the iconic Thatchers Hot Air Balloon took centre stage outside the CMC Marquee, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. Inside, mini hot air balloons adorned the space, complementing rustic tables and chairs illuminated by warm, autumnal lighting brought in by SLX. The ambiance created was as inviting and cosy event on a winter’s night.
From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted with a range of ciders to tantalise the taste buds, along with mesmerising magic tricks to entertain the guests. As the evening progressed, the rituals of the Wassail began. Attendees made their way to the orchards, gathering around the bonfire, banging sticks and firing rifles to ward off evil spirits while toasting to a plentiful harvest.
With traditions honoured, the festivities truly began. A scrumptious three-course meal, featuring Thatchers Cider-infused delights, prepared by the culinary experts at Two Simmering Pans, set the stage for an evening of laughter and entertainment. Renowned comedian Ed Byrne entertained the crown before the electrifying indie rock cover band Lipinski took to the stage and kept the crowd dancing late into the night.
And just like that, Thatchers Wassail 2024 came to a close, bringing hope for the new harvest. It’s an honour to support a local family business like Thatchers, and we eagerly anticipate what the future holds for this beloved event.
