To celebrate the 165th Anniversary of the formation of the Canynges Society, Alastair Currie Events hosted a marvellous banquet in St Mary Redcliffe Church on Friday 14th February – the perfect venue for a very special evening.
The Canynges Society is dedicated to raising funds to support the maintenance of the Church, including repairs to it’s organ and all internal fixtures. Originally formed in 1848 to raise funds for a restoration, the charity closed shortly after reaching their target. When, in 1927, the church required further work the charity reopened and has remained active ever since. Each year a new President is elected and works with the churches supporters to help St Mary Redcliffe both survive and thrive.
We were delighted to be invited to support their anniversary dinner, providing all the red and white Valentines decor, electrical and power equipment, furniture, food and drink.
A sensational menu, created by Fosters Event Catering, included canapes of squash, asparagus, spinach and pine nut parcels, smoked salmon, parma ham and mozzarella, as well as beef fillet and mini yorkshire puddings. Red mullet and escabeche of winter vegetables accompanied with saffron aioli and tapenade crostini proved a delicious starter ahead of vension fillet or caerphilly pithivier, accompanied by butternut puree, fondant potato and creamed port and leek sauce. Dessert was served in the form of Valentines Assiette; chocolate and hazelnut with honeycombe and salted caramel, strawberry and vanilla mousse with shortbread, champagne and raspberry jelly with chocolate cream. Finished with handmade chocolate truffles and fresh roasted coffees.
We were delighted to welcome so many guests for this special event and were blown away by the amount of praise and gratitude we received following the event.
