Being an Alastair Currie Events Event Assistant

It seems like an age ago that I had my first day working at Alastair Currie Events as an event assistant, but reality (and the close-knit family that is the Alastair Currie Events team) tells me it was only my one month anniversary this week. Genuinely, working here is the definition of ‘time flies when you’re having fun’.

As we specialise in totally bespoke events – whether that is corporate or private – no event is ever the same, and that means no two days are ever the same. Being an event assistant means I am at the heart of all the action, both in the office and on site. From organising suppliers, liaising with contractors and completing all the necessary ordering,  in these last four weeks I have learnt more about the world of events then I ever hoped to imagine and the great thing is there is still so much for me to see and do.

Things have been action packed so far, I have completed my first two events. It is hugely rewarding to watch the event unfold of the day when you have been involved as a key member of the behind the scene staff, it’s also great seeing all that ordering being put to good use!

As Autumn approaches, Alastair Currie Events are turning their attention to the Christmas season, whether that be corporate Christmas conferences or private Christmas parties. The new few months promise to be as insightful and busy as the last – I cannot wait!

Thank you to everyone at Alastair Currie Events for welcoming me so warmly into the company, the experience within the company is vast and it’s incredible to have this opportunity to be able to absorb it all daily. Similarly, Alastair Currie Events have excellent relationships with some of the best suppliers and venues in the South West and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the teams, their kit and learning more about what they supply. I am looking forward to hopefully meeting a growing number of suppliers and clients in the months to come.
