My placement year at Alastair Currie Events has been a year of learning, meeting new people, gaining new experiences and lots of excitement! Now I have finished, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for me to reflect on my year within the industry.
From my first event, to my very last, I was made to feel apart of an incredible team. One with pools of knowledge, that I will not only apply to my final year at university, but within my future career.
Birthday parties, weddings, staff parties, and charity events are just a small number of the types of events I helped deliver this year. From the initial meetings and proposal creations to the install, delivery, and de-rig, I have gained a huge insight into the fast-paced world of events and have met so many different people along the way!
From spending a weekend in Dorset, delivering a beautiful wedding at St Giles House, to spending a week in London, assisting with the Moonwalk – with a bright pink stretch tent, LED lit blossom trees, and an array of festival style flags, Clapham Common was transformed into a colourful, brightly lit space, ready to greet thousands of participants!
No two days were the same; whether I was in the office creating proposals for clients, carrying out site visits, or onsite overseeing furniture deliveries – there was never any time to be bored!
For me, events are all about creating an experience, and ACEs do just that! I have loved being apart of the planning process, working on all things theming, décor and entertainment. Creating the ‘wow’ factor and being able to bring a client’s vision to life is an incredibly rewarding challenge. I love seeing everything come together, but my favourite part has to be, when guests walk into the party and seeing their reactions! Knowing you have played a part in delivering a client’s vision is such a wonderful feeling!
Alastair, Alice, and Lucy, you have given me such a wonderful opportunity in allowing me to join the Event House team. From answering all of my questions, and always being so patient, I have gained such an invaluable experience and cannot believe how quickly my year at ACEs has gone! You have been the most amazing team to have worked with, THANK YOU!
